INFINIX HOT 4 GETS ANDROID 7 NOUGAT UPDATE
Back in April, Infinix Mobility released a list of infinix devices that will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
This list had the company’s high-end Infinix Zero 4 and Zero 4 Plus, the midrange Note 3 and Note 3 Pro as well as the budget Infinix Hot 4 series, excluding the low-end Hot 4 Lite. Up to now, the OS has already been rolled out to the Infinix Zero 4 and Note 3, but it’s now time for those using the Hot 4 to join the party.When the company confirmed the Nougat update for Infinix Hot 4, a specific date was given out – June 5. This is when Android 7.0 Nougat update was to be made available to the Infinix Hot 4 and indeed the company has managed to keep its promise.
The OS is already available for Hot 4 users, but there’s a catch.Apparently, the company seems to be playing a smart trick here. Infinix Mobility isn’t rolling out the OTA update as expected; rather, it seems the OEM wants you to have control over what OS you want on your Hot 4. This means that you can choose between staying on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and updating to Android 7.0 Nougat – whichever suits you!Right now, the update to Android 7.0 Nougat for Infinix Hot 4 users is available for download, but manually.
The OS weighs no more than 1.6GB, according to folks who already have it installed, so make sure you have enough storage space. Also ensure that your internet connection is stable and preferably Wi-Fi, unless you are okay with your data company’s plans. Note that the available link gives you the beta version, but the company is rolling out updates to this version that are possibly meant to send it to the stable version.The Nougat update comes with quite a number of new additions, including multi-window support, new settings app, quick app switching, bundled notifications and more. You also get an updated monthly Android security patch level for the month of April.
The fact that Hot 4 users on both Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 6.0 Marshmallow are receiving separate updates with bug fixes and performance enhancements adds even more weight to this educated guess.When a company rolls out a new OS update to a device, it stops maintaining the previous version of the OS for the device in question.
